In my case (as I'm assuming it was for this person), Ancano wasn't opening the Eye, but instead he'd go off and fight the npcs and be invincible even though the Eye would still be closed Not sure if anyone else has seen this but Ancano on my game is invincible. This apparently makes it so Ancano will do what he's supposed to do (open the Eye) after Tolfdir attacks him and the DB uses the staff on the Eye. When you reach Ancano, he will be joined with the Eye of Magnus by some kind of spell, and will be invincible at this point.
